RECIPE FOR STRAWBERY SPINACH SALAD
Preparation time: 15 minutes, Cooking time: 6 minutes, Makes 8 small servings

DRESSING:
1/4 cup Vegetable oil (50 ml)
2 tbsp Raspberry vinegar (30 ml) or 4 tbsp (20ml) red-wine vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (15 ml)            1 tbsp Granulated sugar - optional (15 ml)
2 tbsp Poppy seeds (10 ml)             1 Green onion, finely chopped             ½ tsp salt (2 ml)
Pinch of paprika

SUGARED ALMONDS:
½ cup Silvered almonds (125 ml)             1/4 cup Granulated sugar (50 ml)             2 tbsp Water (10 ml)

SALAD:
2 Bags of spinach or 3 large bunches (10-oz/284 g bags)             2 cups Sliced strawberries (500 ml)

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Place dressing ingredients in a jar or small container with a resealable lid. Shake well. Dressing can be made ahead and left at room temperature for up to 1 day or refrigerated, covered, for 2 to 3 days. Flavour improves as it sits.

(2) To prepare almonds, grease a large piece of foil and place on counter. Place almonds, sugar and water in a medium-size frying pan or saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar melts. As soon as sugar turns light golden, stir slowly and constantly with a wooden spoon until all sugar is an even golden shade and coats almonds, from 6 to 8 minutes.

(3) Immediately turn coated almonds out onto foil. Don't touch as they're extremely hot. Let cool, preferably to room temperature, then break into small pieces. (If making ahead, nuts will keep well at cool room temperature or in the refrigerator for weeks. If your kitchen is warm and humid, it's best to store them in the refrigerator).

(4) Wash spinach, discarding tough stems, then tear into bite-size pieces. Place in a large bowl, along with strawberries. (If not serving right away, cover salad with a damp paper towel and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.) Just before serving, toss salad with about half of dressing, then keep adding a little more dressing and tossing until spinach is lightly coated. Add almonds and toss.

CLAIRE'S FROZEN RICE CRISPIES DESSERT

WHAT YOU NEED:
1\2 cup Corn Syrup             1\2 cup Peanut Butter             3 cups Rice Crispies             Your choice of Ice Cream
Whip Cream or Nutri Whip             1 tsp. of Instant Coffee Granules             2 tbsp. of Instant Chocolate
One 8" by 13" glass pan

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Mix the Corn Syrup, Peanut Butter and Rice Crispies together, in a bowl.
(2) Spread in an 8 by 13 glass pan.
(3) Spread ice cream of your choice over the mixture in the pan.
(4) Next put Whip cream or Nutri Whip in a bowl
(5) Add 1 tsp. of instant coffee granules
(6) Add 2 tbs. of instant chocolate.
(7) Now spread this Whip Cream combo on top of the ice cream.
(8) Put in freezer until ready to serve.

MICROWAVE RICE PUDDING!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Cup of minute rice         2 Cups of water             1 Egg             1 Cup of half and half or Caranation can milk             1/ Cup of Brown Sugar             1 Tsp of Nutmeg             Raisins            

You also need, a Microwave Dish and a mixing bowl.

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Mix 1 Cup of Rioce and 2 Cups of water in a Microwave Dish.
(2) Cook at full power for 5 minutes in your Microwave.
(3) Then cook for another 15 minutes at 50% power, in your Microwave.
(4) In a separate bowl mix 1 egg, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of half and half or Caranation milk, 1/3 cup of brown sugar and 1 tsp of nutmeg together.
(5) Now add you mixture to your cooked rice.
(6) Add raisins to dish mixture.
(7) Microwave at 50% power for 13 to 15 minutes.
(8) Stir halfway.
(9) It's now cooked; enjoy!

CREPES BY ANNIE!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 1/2 Cups Of flour        1/4 Tsp Salt             1/4 Tsp Nutmeg Or Cinnamon             3 Large Eggs             1/4 Cup Tonic Water             2 Cups Tepid (Kinda Warm) Water             1 Cup Milk             3 Tbsp Of Vegetable Oil

You also need, something to sift flour with, a large bowl, a whisk & a cooking pan.

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Sift flour, salt, spice into large bowl.
(2) Add eggs. Add Tonic Water & Tepid Water.
(3) Mix vigorously with whisk.
(4) Pour in mild and mix again until batter is smooth.
(5) Add oil, mix again, pass batter through sieve.
(6) Refrigerate 15 minutes.
(7) Butter or lightly oil pan over medium heat.
(8) Pour small laddle full of batter into pan.
(9) Cook about 1 minute per side.
(When you see the bubbles coming up through the top it should be almost ready to flip.)
(10) Cook other side!
(11) Enjoy with fruit, jam butter, syrup or all.

HOMEMADE SOUP!

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 or 2 cans of Stewed Tomatoes         3 plus large Green Onions             1 large can of Beef Broth (no fat)            
1 pkg. Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup mix       1 bunch of Celery             2 Cans of Green Beans            
2 Pounds of Carrots       2 Green Peppers

Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce.

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Peel and cut vegetables into small to medium pieces.
(2) Put vegetables into a large pot.
(3) Open all cans and pour contents into the pot.
(4) Cover all contents in pot with water.
(3) Boil on high for 10 minutes.
(4) Reduce to a simmer and continue to cook until vegetables are tender.
(Usually it takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Taste vegetables for tenderness.)

This soup is taken from the SCARED HEART MEDICAL DIET, the rest of the diet is below.


SACRED HEART MEDICAL DIET

NOTE: You take part in this diet at your own risk. We can not be held liable.

This 7-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean out your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. After only 7 days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds to possibly 17 pounds, and experince an abundance of energy.

For this diet use the soup above.

DRINKS:
Unsweetened juices, Tea (also herbal), Coffee, Cranberry juice, Skim milk,water, water and more water.

DAY ONE:
Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today.

DAY TWO:
All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw, cooked or canned vegetables. Try to eat green leafy vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat vegetables along with soup. At dinnertime tonight reward yourslef with a big potato and butter. Don't eat any fruits through today.

DAY THREE:
Eat all the soup, fruit and vegetables you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eatend as above for three days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5 - 7 pounds.

DAY FOUR:
Bananas and skim milk. Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carabs. Proteins and calcium to lessen the carvings for sweets.

DAY FIVE:
Beef and Tomatoes; you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today.

DAY SIX:
Beef and vegetables, eat to your heats content of the beef and vegetables today. You can even have 2 - 3 steaks if you like, with green leafy vegetables but NO baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.

DAY SEVEN:
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and vegetables, again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked vegetables to your rice if you wish.
By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again. This diet is fast. The secret lies within the principle that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at this time. Because of the fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol. Due to the variety of digestive systems in indivduals, this diet will affect everyone differntly. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need cafferine after the third day. The basic fat buring soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.

Continue on the diet as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically. (You take this diet at your own risk.)

DO NOT - DO NOT:
No bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks (including diet drinks). Remember, absolutely no fried foods.

DO - DO - DO - DO:
Drink plenty - at least 6 to 8 glasses of ater a day, as well as any combination of the following beveragaes: black coffee, unsweetened fruits, cranberry juice and skim milk.

This diet comes from the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital that is used for overweight heart patients in order to lose weight rapidly, usually prior to surgery.

BANANA LOAF!

WHAT YOU NEED:
3 Medium bananas         1 Cup of white sugar             1 1/2 cups of flour            
1 tsp of baking powder             1 tsp of baking soda             1 egg            
1/4 cup of butter             1 tsp of vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS:
(1) Mash bananas in a large bowl.
(2) Add sugar.
(3) Add egg.
(4) Add vanilla.
(5) Beat well.
(6) Stir in dry ingredients.
(7) Add butter last and mix well.
(8) Place in greased loaf pan for 50 minutes at 350 degress "F".
(9) Enjoy!
